Gaming Week

September 29, 2006

This week, we’ve got 2 gaming related event held, which were the TGS06, Tokyo Game Show 2006 and X06 @ Barcelona. Microsoft announced HD-DVD Drive for 199USD for the US and approximately 170USD for the Japan. Xbox 360 wireless headset will be selling for 59USD and featuring 8 hours of usage time. Cool huh? Imagine sitting on the comfortable couch at your lovely living room, with a large HDTV, playing Halo 3 on your Xbox 360 with a wireless controller and wireless headset, scolding your opponent that killed you, isn’t that fun? Everything is wireless, no wire on the floor, your living room will look so tidy and clean and perfect. Today in school during Art lesson, I was thinking about this 2 console, Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, it seems like getting a 60GB PS3 is worthful than getting a Premium X360+HDDVD External Drive. It’s like this, PS3 already included the Blu-Ray drive and HDMI output, and a 60GB HDD, while X360 which is 399USD(20GB HDD) + 199USD(HDDVD Drive w/ Peter Jackson’s King Kong HDDVD Disc) = 598USD. So the point is, the HDD capacity is different, 1 is 60GB with HDMI output and X360 is only 20GB with no HDMI outout announced yet, people claimed that with HDMI output will produce a high quality motion picture and the output is far better than component and VGA output which X360 is using. Let’s wait to see who will win the High Def Gaming War, we don’t talk about Nintendo Wii here, Nintendo Wii has its own road to go, and since it is not a High Def machine, it is a new concept of gaming, so it will be like (PS3/X360) + Nintendo Wii at home. PS3 launching in US, Europe and Japan in November and December, but not in Asia country. Bad Sony, why you do this to us gamer living in Asia? Luckily, since it is not region lock, I can get wherever PS3 from, but the price might be too pricy because a PS3 60GB is 599USD > RM2200 + shipping fee, it might hit RM2500 which is really expensive, how am I gonna get it?

I Watch Porn not Comedies

September 26, 2006

From the Song “I Write Sins not Tragedies – Panic! At The Disco”

This is “I Watch Porn not Comedies”
-Lyrics by JayR known as the boy infront of me in class.

Oh… Well Imagine
As I’m going to 7/11 for condoms
and I can’t help but to see.
No, I can’t help but to see a nice family.
‘What a beautiful baby!’
‘What a beautiful baby!’ said a pussy to her boy.
Oh yes, what a joy.
What a joy the baby watches porn.

*Chorus*
I’d chime in with (a)
haven’t you fuckers ever heard of,
Shutting the fucking TV.
It’s better to bullshit off your child.
If you don’t have any responsibilties.

I’d chime in with
haven’t you fuckers ever heard of,
Shutting the fucking TV.
It’s better to bullshit off your child.
If you don’t have any responsibilities.

Oh, well in fact.
If you sex me without condoms I mean technically
I might get aids.
Well I won’t call the cops, So
please don’t rape me.
Oh, well in fact.
If you sex me without condoms I mean technically
I might get aids.
Well I won’t call the cops.
So please don’t rape me, please don’t rape me.

I’d chime in with a
haven’t you fuckers ever heard of,
Shutting the fucking TV.
It’s better to bullshit off your child.
If you don’t have any responsibilities.

Keyboard

September 25, 2006

Saturday night, a few drops of water spilt on the white brandless known to made in China keyboard. I was sleepy and I just switch off the computer and went to sleep and this ended my Saturday. Sunday morning, I woke up early at 9am, I almost every morning will switch on my PC, but I didn’t do it on that day, I had my breakfast and then I went to English tuition. After that, I went to have my haircut at the saloon named Extreme for only RM10. Back home, I got some guest visit us during lunch time who are my aunt and uncle, my cousin and his girlfriend. Lunch ate, my cousin wanted to use my computer, I allowed him to use, but went he tried to type stuff in the search bar, the word QWERUIOP can’t typed, I taught he was lying, I went to try it and it was real. At that time I know something, “Fuck? The keyboard can’t work?” I guess it must be that drops of water spoilt the key. I can hardly type a word, I had to use On-Screen Keyboard which is totally not recommend to use to type words. I went to look for keyboard in the computer hardware shop today, but I was told that the keyboard I want was out of stocks, they need to order for me and so I need to wait for a few days again. Currently, I am not going to use my PC to go into the Internet, currently using the noisy 4 years old P3 laptop to go online. :) Without a keyboard is really bad, I can’t play FPS game, I can’t blog on my PC, I can’t chat. I must be patient to wait for the days to come to buy a new keyboard. Any recommendation?

the dog
when i came to school in the noon, 12pm. i saw some school mates were carrying a white cute lil doggy out of the school, i thought that they were too boring. so, i never bother about it, the first lesson of the day is maths, i sat beside the windows, and said “oh my god!”, i saw another person carrying that dog just right outside the walking hallway. teacher told that he saw the doggy first at near the school library, then the school hall, and now the classroom area. not very long then, without any realisation, that doggy was in my class! nobody knew when she came in. so teacher ordered ah dick, my classmate to carry it down again. haha, and it was the last time i saw the doggy again, lesson continued as usual. end.

yesterday was a sunday

September 18, 2006

small caps – yes! yesterday was a sunday. i woke up really early in the morning which is 630. 610 like that, i heard jay’s qian li zhi wai tone caming out from my phone, so i thought it was alarm, and the song was so nice then i continue my sleep again. when i was like going into the sleep again, i thought back, it was actually my phone ringtone!, not the alarm tone, my phone can’t set customize tone, i check the call list and it was rufert call me in the really early morning. i then get myself fresh up and had a cup of milk and cookies. actually i am going to do volunteer work to help cleaning up an area in penang, and the project called clean up the world, tg bungah. leo club is something to help people, so i volunteered myself for the wonderful activity. actually it is not wonderful, it was hot, and i was hungry there, walked the whole area of tg bungah, picking up trash from the street, road side. the thing starts at 830, walked out of sri setia garden, which is a very cityside area, and towards the area of tg bungah(tanjung bungah). when we was walking back to the meeting point which was the starting point, club advisor was there in the car, yay, she fetch a few boys of us back to the meeting place. haha, some guys had to walk back because they were carrying the plastic bags filled with trash, my plastic bags were given to one of my senior x). at there, i get some rest first and then q up to get some food for myself. in the end of the event, there was a lucky draw session featuring a motorola cellphone and other electronics product. i don’t get to join that lucky draw stuff because i am going home, going home was fun because i drained 50% of my personal battery , haha.

lunch at home and then walked to the cinema in the mall near my house to catch little man with my friend, and just because our birthday boy, andy treated us the movie tickets. i and some friends bought him a tee. eventhough the movie was farny, i don’t really like that movie that much, more onto the story stuff, it’s good to bring your family to watch it. i guess i give it a 5.25/10. now, i want to watch dead or alive staring pretty chicks, ghost game, a horror thai movie. wonder when i can watch it all. alvin came to my house after movie for some gaming.

It’s Showtime

September 12, 2006

Normal Caps – Yes!I am now blogging at 2.02am, I no insane. I slept at 11.30pm just now and I woke up at 12.50am. What for? To watch the live update of Apple Special Event : It’s Showtime. Sadly, don’t get to watch the video-on-demand live video. So here’s the update. I am getting myself an Ipod very soon, don’t wanna think about Nintendo DS that much, Ipod dropped it prices from 299USD to 239USD which is around 915MYR. The Ipod Nano is tempting too with 5 different colours and cheaper price too! iTunes user getting iTunes 7 tomorrow which has new feature like separate libraries, cover art finder and much more. In Malaysia, we don’t have iTunes Store, so the newly added stuff like movies and TV series download is not available here, but you might use our neighbour country Singapore iTunes Store. However, you can’t buy a movie here because the internet speed for home user max is 2mb/s.

Near DVD quality. Same encoding as TV shows at 640×480. If you have a 5mb/s broadband connection, it will take approximately 30 minutes to download a movie

img3679.jpg

5mb/s?!That’s a crazy speed here, but in the U.S., it might be just their normal broadband speed. Upgrade your service lar, Steamix! Apple going to release a new video streaming set-up box codename iTV which allow you to stream your iTunes media (movie, music) to your living room and features HDMI output with price $299, releasing in Q1 2007 with the size half of Mac Mini. One thing, new games available to buy at 4.99USD for playing in 5th gen Ipod, downloaded movie from iTunes is now 640×480 up from 320×240

The iPod video

Without further ado, Jobs introduced Apple’s new and improved video-capable iPod, with a screen that’s 60 percent brighter. Battery life has been increased from 2 hours while playing video to 3.5 hours, Jobs says.

Also new is a new earphone design that took Apple 18 months to develop, said Jobs. Superficially, they look similar to the old design — they’re still white.

The new iPod provides gapless playback, according to Jobs, which works with MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless and uncompressed music files. New software features have been added such as instant searching that uses the wheel to input letters and does a live search of iPod content.

As rumors has speculated in recent months, Apple’s been hard at work on new games for the iPod — while it still may not be a substitute for a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP, the new iPod can play versions of popular casual games including Bejeweled, Mahjong, mini-golf, Pac-Man, Tetris, Cubis, Texas Hold ‘Em, Vortex and Zuma — all designed to work with the click wheel interface which has been retained. These games aren’t included with the new iPod — they’re for sale, for $4.99 each, from the iTunes Music Store.

Apple is offering two iPod video models: a 30GB and 80GB version, both in white and black. The 30GB model is available for $249, the 80GB model for $349 — less expensive that previous versions.

iPod nano, take 2

Jobs also unveiled the second generation of the slim iPod nano, Apple’s color screen-equipped flash-based iPod that made its debut a year ago. “The iPod nano is the most popular MP3 player in the world,” Jobs said.

Critics of the first iPod nano complained that the glossy front of the unit could be scratched too easily — Apple has addressed that problem by making it out of aluminum, much as it does its MacBook Pro laptops.

“And we’re bringing back colors,” said Jobs — harkening back to the iPod nano’s predecessor, the venerable iPod mini. The iPod nano will be available in anodized blue, pink, green, silver and black.

The second-generation iPod nano also features a battery with better charge capacity than the first — up to 24 hours of play, versus 14 for the first-generation nano.

The iPod nano debuts in three different models — 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions, priced at $149, $199 and $249.

What’s more, the iPod nano ships in a smaller box than before — it’s barely bigger than the nano itself. Apple has similarly shrunk accessories like the battery charger. And accessories will be available including an armband and lanyard headphones with the new earbud design. And it works with the much vaunted Nike+iPod Sport Kit.

iPod shuffle Rev 2

Also on stage today is the new iPod shuffle, a diminuitve flash-based digital music player that’s even smaller than before. While the first-generation shuffle resembled a pack of stick gum, the new iPod shuffle takes it styling cues from the Apple Remote.

“Wearability” was of key importance to first-generation iPod shuffle owners, said Jobs. So Apple designed the new iPod shuffle in an aluminum case with a built-in clip. The headphone jack is also where the device charges and connects to the computer. Apple bills the new shuffle as the world’s smalled MP3 player.

Available for pre-order and shipping in October, the 1GB iPod shuffle will cost $79.

iTunes 7

Apple on Tuesday released iTunes 7, a new version of its popular music jukebox and online music download store. The new software has been organized into sections — separate libraries for music, movies, TV shows, podcast and radio.

A three-position switch alternates between different views, and a new view has been added called Album View, which puts album art and all tracks from the album so you can scroll by album now, if you wish.

What’s more, iTunes will now populate your music collection with album cover art if the cover art is missing, and if you have an iTunes Music Store account.

“We may not have everything, but we have 3.5 million songs of album artwork,” Jobs remarked. “If you’ve got an iTunes account, iTunes will automatically download it for free.”

A third view is called Cover Flow View. It enables you to find songs more quickly by album cover — it’s a window that shows a 3D representation of album covers above your music list.

Improvements to video

“We announced TV shows less than a year ago,” Jobs said. “Since then over 45 million TV shows have been downloaded.”

The iTunes Music Store has expanded from five shows to more than 220 and from one network to more than 40, including ever major network, said Jobs.

Shows downloaded from the iTunes Music Store are encoded at 320 x 240 pixel resolution. “Today we are taking [resolution] up a notch,” said Jobs. “We are going to increase that resolution four times, and all video will be at 640 x 480.”

iTunes 7 features gapless playback, of course, and also lets users manage the iPod from right inside of iTunes — no more having to fiddle with iTunes’ preferences to get your iPod configured. iTunes can search for music library for albums that are meant to be played in gapless fashion, and sets them to work that way.

A frequent complaint of iPod users is that the iPod only synchronizes content on one computer at a time, even if both computers are authorized with the iTunes Music Store. Now you can take your iPod, sync it with a computer, move it to a different authoried computer, and content will “flow back” to the new computer, so you can transfer purchased music between authorized computers using an iPod.

iTunes 7 also shows the games you’ve downloaded from the iTunes Music Store in your library, so you can see instructions and other information.

iTunes 7 is available today

One more thing … movies

“But there is one more thing,” said Jobs. “And that is movies. Today I want to talk about adding movies to the iTunes Store and the whole iTunes-iPod experience. Today we’re starting out with films from Disney, Pixar, Touchstone and Miramax — four studios owned by Walt Disney Co.”

The service launches with more than 75 films online, starting today. Apple is adding more, including Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Cars. New releases are priced at $12.99 for pre-orders and during their first week of release, the same time they’re available for purchase on DVD. After that they increase to $14.99, though older “library titles” will be priced at $9.99 every day.

Movies available for download from the iTunes Store are shown at 640 x 480 resolution in “near-DVD quality,” according to Jobs. Jobs said that if you have 5 Megabit per second broadband service — not uncommon for cable modem users — you can expect to download a full-length movie in roughly a half an hour. What’s more, you can start watching the movie in as little as a minute, while it’s still downloading.

To ease that process, iTunes now has a Download Manager that lets you watch items you’re downloading from the store, and you can switch priorities if you’re downloading multiple files.

Jobs described the audio quality as “Dolby Surround.” Usage rights for movies purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store are the same as the TV shows — so you can’t burn them to disc, though you can share them among multiple authorized computers and video iPods. And parental controls have been updated with MPAA ratings.

“We hope to take this international in 2007,” added Jobs.
